The American Society for Quality and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s Quality Forum plan to roll out quality management training programs for Indian firms. The program will include discussions around three topics: quality engineering, Six Sigma and plans for a major quality conference in India next year. The plan was announced at an interactive meeting, “Future Trends in Quality and Business Excellence,” organized by FICCI. The alliance is an attempt to link macro-level policy initiatives for enhancing the competitiveness of Indian enterprises.

“Companies will value professionals who can contribute to the top line, as well as the bottom line, and [those who have the] skills that identify customer needs and translate them to product and service features,” says Gregory Weiler, ASQ Asia general manager.

FICCI has a nationwide membership of more than 1,500 corporate members and more than 500 chambers of commerce and business associations. It works to enhance the global competitiveness of Indian companies.
