The secretariat of the Dubai Quality Award recently published a guide for implementing kaizen.

The Dubai Quality Award is administered by the kingdom’s Department of Economic Development, which partnered with the Kaizen Institute Ltd. to produce the book. Masaaki Imai, the founder of kaizen, provided the text and figures in the guide. “Kaizen demonstrates the concept of continuous improvement within an organization without recourse to significant monetary investment or the use of high-tech systems,” says Lway Nackasha, the Department of Economic Development’s quality advisor. “It is all about making improvements by going to the real workplace, thus collecting actual data, meeting real people, understanding the problems, (and) devising a two-phased solution; first, a quick solution to resume production, and second, a long-term improvement following detailed study.”
